It’s hard to stand out amid dozens of gorgeous show trucks at any Overdrive Pride & Polish show, but Dean Jay found a way. Two ways, actually.

Jay’s Cream Puff, a 2007 Peterbilt 379 and 2013 MAC flatbed, took home three awards from the 2014 Pride & Polish at the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas: Working Combo, OEM Sleeper and Custom Paint Combo.

The sleeper award was due in no small part to the creative use of animal pelts.

“I like hunting and fishing and trapping, so that’s kind of what our theme is,” says Jay, who owns Jay Transport in Ucon, Idaho. He has beaver hides on the pedals and a fox hide on the gear shift. Hides also covered his seat backs at the show.

The other feature is the two storage compartments he and his sons built for storing tarps, straps and chains. One is between the frame rails, right behind the cab, and opens from the top. The other is on the underside of the flatbed, opening down. Wireless switches open and close the lids of both.

Jay demonstrates both storage units in the video below.
