Rookie truck racer Tommy Boileau claimed his third consecutive Minimizer Bandit Big Rig Series win on Sept. 2 at Lebanon I-44 Speedway in Lebanon, Mo.

Boileau started the race in 12th place and worked his way up to second with 13 laps to go when the first caution flag of the night came out. Allen Boles had been leading the race up to that point and had worked his way up to nearly a full straightaway lead before the yellow flag flew.

Boles was able to hold Boileau off over the next few laps of side-by-side racing until another caution came out for Chris Kikelhan, who crashed hard into the outside wall.

With seven laps to go in the race, Boileau went high on Boles and was able to make the pass with five laps left after a couple laps of side-by-side racing. “88 Mike” Morgan was then able to get around Boles with three to go, but he didn’t have enough power to catch Boileau, who had stretched his lead while the battle for second was ongoing.

Behind Boileau and Morgan, Justin Ball claimed a third-place finish, followed by Boles and Ricky “Rude” Proffitt in fifth.

With the win, Boileau was able to jump Morgan to claim second place in the overall points standings with four races remaining in the inaugural Bandit season. Proffitt continues to hold a slim lead in the standings, holding onto first place by just 18.5 points. Boileau now leads Morgan by 19.5 points. Ball, who has consistently finished in the top five in nearly every race, but has yet to claim a win, sits in fourth place, still within striking distance of the points leaders.

The next Bandit race is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 23, at Highland Rim Speedway in Greenbrier, Tenn. Morgan picked up a win when the Bandits first visited the track back in July.
