Wayne Skoglund drives this 2013 Peterbilt 389 hauling dairy feed from Idaho to California. The truck features a Cummins engine backed by a 13-speed transmission. Skoglund, out of Caldwell, Idaho, makes two trips each week to California with his 2015 Western belt trailer.

Task force calls for ban on carriers' truck lease-purchase programs

FMCSA's Truck Leasing Task Force, in its required report to Congress, said it found “the costs and harms of lease-purchase programs are so great" they shouldn't be allowed. Otherwise, the report recommended improvements to protect operators.
