We’re down to the top four Custom Rigs videos of 2025 in Overdrive’s 2025 Custom Rigs Showdown. After two rounds of voting, Overdrive readers have narrowed the field from 12 trucks for the semi-final round of the College Football Playoff-style bracket.
After the quarterfinal round concluded this morning, one thing is clear: truck drivers love old iron. Nearly every truck in the field for the round of 8 was an antique, and the semifinals feature four trucks that are no younger than 37 years old.
Another trend from Round 2 worth noting -- each of the four winners was something of an underdog, initially seeded lower based on views since the videos were posted on Overdrive’s YouTube channel. With that in mind, results from Round 2:
- No. 8 seed Todd Scruggs (84%) over No. 1 Alan Kitzhaber (16%)
- No. 7 Bill Warner (72%) over No. 2 Luke Rethwisch (28%)
- No. 6 Shawn Wright (60%) over No. 3 Jesse Shirey (40%)
- No. 5 Troy Bolin (66%) over No. 4 Robert Baesel (34%)
With their victories in Round 2, the four winners advance for a shot at the championship round on the line. Round 3 matchups:
- No. 5 Troy Bolin and his V8 Cat-powered 1979 Peterbilt 359 v. No. 8 Todd Scruggs and his Cat C18-powered “Dollar Bill” 1982 Peterbilt 359
- No. 6 Shawn Wright with his 1968 Peterbilt 358A v. No. 7 Bill Warner and his “Hillbilly Hampton” 1988 Peterbilt 362 cabover
Voting for Round 3 is open now below or at this link through Jan. 21. After casting your vote in each of the two matchups, check back in that day for launch of the championship round.
