Who are these happy people? New operators of the 2013 Mack Pinnacle behind them, one of a few custom-built for the Tasca Racing family (from left: Bob Jr., Bob IV and Bob III) by the manufacturer to haul driver and team owner Bob Tasca III’s funny car, which competes in the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) championships. The lot of them traveled from team headquarters in Charlotte to the Mack Customer Center this past week to meet with employees and to see the Pinnacle Axle Back. With Mack’s official sponsorship of the Tasca team, the rig is set to be a dedicated hauler for the team’s equipment at least for the next three years. The truck’s equipped with the 505 hp Mack MP8 engine and mDrive automated manual transmission.
Over the course of his career, Tasca has consistently competed in the Funny Car Countdown to the Championship and is among the elite drag racing drivers in the sport, with a career best speed of 314.46 mph. He’s a third-generation drag racer and vice president of the Tasca Automotive Group.
Below find a 2009 StreetFire.net video in which Tasca gives a run through the operation of his funny car. Catch the team’s race pre- and post-views via his YouTube channel.
