The AddMotor two- and three-wheeled electric-assist transporter builder got its start in California in 2011 with a direct-to-consumer sales and support model. It's since expanded with various shops across the country for ongoing maintenance/sales support, and in 2023 it introduced the Foldtan M-160 folding ebike.
The M-160 represented a big upgrade from prior AddMotor folding models with more battery storage and power, among other mods for the latest in a line of foldables offering easier storage on the truck for alternative transport and custom fitness with adjustable pedal resistance.

Specs for the FoldTan M-160 boast more than 100 miles on a single charge, 300-lb. weight capacity, and an upgraded torque sensor engaging the motor while you pedal at levels that depend on the resistance setting you're in.
And, perhaps most importantly, for enhanced safety the M-160 incorporates hydraulic braking, as described in the detailed introduction the AddMotor company published attendant to the bike's launch. (Speaking of safety, don't neglect the helmet running any two-wheeler during downtime, drivers.)
Since launch, pricing for the model has come down considerably -- the full-featured unit retails at $1,600 with a one-year frame warranty included.
A more compact foldable, AddMotor's FoldTan M-120, remains available and might fit the budget better for those not concerned with less range (roughly 80 miles) and weight capacity (280 lbs.).
