Decker names drivers of the month

Decker Truck Line announced its drivers of the month for December 2009. Ray Albright was named flatbed driver of the month, and Robert Peterson was named driver of the month for the reefer-van division.

Decker also recently recognized two drivers on the company’s Million Mile Team for achieving an additional million miles on their safety records. Benjamin McIntyre of Oquawka, Iowa, was recognized for achieving 2 million miles, and John Pallos of Fort Dodge, Iowa, was recognized for achieving 3 million miles. The company’s Million Mile Team currently has 99 active members.

Decker also received the 2009 Iowa Freedom Award for large employers.


Bob-WyattSchneider driver logs 4 million miles

Schneider National driver Bob Wyatt of Springfield, Ill., joins one of few drivers in the company’s 75-year history to achieve the 4-million safe mile mark. Wyatt’s 36-year career driving for Schneider has resulted in zero accidents.

For the fourth consecutive year, Schneider earned a spot on G.I. Jobs’ annual list of Top Military-Friendly Employers. Schneider ranked 18th, earning recognition on the Top 100 list for the programs and benefits it offers to reservists and veterans.

Additionally, Schneider received the “2009 Best Third-Party Service Provider” recognition from the Voluntary Interindustry Commerce Solutions Association. The VICS Collaborative Commerce Achievement Awards annually recognize companies in the retail and consumer-focused industries that create solutions to eliminate billions of dollars of waste and delay from the supply chain.


Southeastern sets company record

Southeastern Freight Lines announced its outstanding year-to-date safety records. The “total accidents per million miles” frequency was 1.9 as of August, compared to 4.6 in the year 2000. Also, Southeastern has had only four injuries per 200,000 hours year-to-date, compared to 10.7 in the year 2000, the company says.
