“A women doesn’t have to give up herself or her femininity to excel at what’s called a man’s job.” That was what Anna said to me when she and I were talking about Overdrive‘s Most Beautiful contest. The best part about what Anna said to me is that I see her living this every day as a strong, smart, beautiful, independent, solo woman driver. But Anna wasn’t always a truck driver. She worked as an RN for many years caring for others as she raised her son and daughter. But a few years ago, after her children were grown, Anna decided she wanted to do something for herself, something that would combine her love of driving and her desire for freedom with the opportunity to see our great country. So she changed career paths to became an over the road truck driver, and I’m so glad she did. Working with Anna is a breath of fresh air. She truly is a professional driver. Anna pays attention to the details and will ask questions when she needs to, but is also very independent and embodies our company motto of “Problem solved.” When she is given a load she won’t hesitate to call ahead to our customers to let them know that she is on her way or to confirm directions. She takes initiative to have her trips and stops planned for the whole week if we have her booked out. I know that when we give Anna a load, our customers will be well taken care of. I’m glad that I have had the opportunity to get to know Anna, and I hope that you will, too. This proud mother of two and grandmother of two, with a huge smile and an easy laugh, truly is one of a kind and a role model of strength and beauty. And if you hear a truck roll by jamming to AC/DC or some country music, look up because you just may just get to meet the one and only Anna Bencheck.
