Landstar recently recognized a bevy of owner-operators for outstanding safety achievements and also gave away the 51st truck in company history to one of its leased operators.

During Landstar’s BCO All-Star Celebration in Savannah, Georgia, earlier this month, Owensboro, Kentucky-based owner-operator George Eason was awarded a brand-new 2026 Freightliner Cascadia.

The All-Star Truck Giveaway is exclusively reserved for Landstar Million Mile Safe Drivers and Roadstar honorees -- the designation awarded to the “best of the best” for high levels of safety, productivity and excellence in customer service. Each of the owner-operators has driven at least one million consecutive miles with Landstar without a preventable accident.

This was the 51st truck Landstar has given away in its history and the 14th truck given specifically to a Landstar Million Mile Safe Driver or Roadstar recipient. This year’s truck was co-sponsored by Comdata, and the prize included all registration fees and taxes paid by Landstar.

Before Eason’s name was drawn as the truck winner, that same evening he was inducted as a new Landstar Million Mile Safe Driver.  Eason was one of four finalists randomly drawn from the pool of Landstar owner-operators eligible to win the truck. Then, on stage at the ceremony, the finalists each selected one of four boxes, only one of which contained the key to the new truck.

Upon winning, Eason told the audience how grateful he was to win the prize. “It’s going to make a lot of things happen for me,” said Eason. “I just can’t stop thanking Landstar. It’s unbelievable!”

Landstar’s Class of 2024 honorees included 98 new One Million Mile Safe Drivers, 17 new Two Million Mile Safe Drivers and two new Three Million Mile Safe Drivers. Of Landstar’s 990 active Million Mile Safe Drivers, including those inducted in this class, 12 individuals were recognized for earning the Roadstar distinction. Landstar began presenting the Roadstar award in 1990, and there are currently 168 active Roadstar honorees, including the newest Class of 2024.

“Driving one million miles or more without a preventable accident is a remarkable achievement. Landstar is proud to celebrate the stellar safety records and skill it takes to get to this level. These independent owner-operators are truly dedicated to their profession as well as Landstar’s safety-first culture,” said Landstar President and CEO Frank Lonegro. “Landstar Roadstar honorees take safety, security and service to the next level, setting the benchmark for the entire trucking industry in their unparalleled dedication to excellence. These individuals have earned the right to be called the most elite independent owner-operators at Landstar.”

One Landstar owner-operator also received a special BCO Lifetime Achievement Award from the company.
