How to Keep Overdrive in Your Inbox

Whitelisting (sometimes called “safelist” or “marking as important”) is a quick, one-time step that makes sure emails from Overdrive always land where you’ll see them: your inbox.

In most cases, all you need to do is open one of our emails and tell your mail program to trust the sender. Below are step-by-step guides for the most common email services:

đŸ“± Apple Mail (Mac + iPhone/iPad)

  • Open an email from Overdrive.
  • Tap or click the sender’s name or address.
  • Choose Add to Contacts or Add to VIPs.
    • Tip: Adding to VIPs creates a special folder just for us in iOS Mail.

đŸ’» Outlook (Desktop versions 20XX)

  • Open a message from Overdrive.
  • At the top of the email, look for the notice about downloading images.
  • Click and select Add Sender to Safe Senders List.

🌐 Outlook.com

  • Open a message from Overdrive.
  • At the top of the email, you may see: “Parts of this message have been blocked for your safety.”
  • Click the link that says I trust Overdrive. Always show content.

✉ Yahoo! Mail

  • Open a message from Overdrive.
  • Hover over or tap the “+” icon next to our name.
  • Choose Add to Contacts, then hit Save.

📧 Gmail (Web + Mobile)

  • On desktop:
    • Drag one of our emails from Promotions or Updates into your Primary tab.
    • A message will pop up asking if you want to do this for future messages — click Yes.
  • On mobile:

đŸ€– Android (Default Mail App)

  • Open a message from Overdrive.
  • Tap the sender’s profile icon.
  • Select Add to Contacts.

đŸȘŸ Windows Live Mail (Desktop)

  • Open a message from Overdrive.
  • At the top of the preview pane, click the link that says Add to Safe Senders List.

📹 AOL Mail

  • Open a message from Overdrive.
  • Click our name in the “From” line.
  • Select Add Contact from the drop-down menu.

Once you’ve added us as a trusted sender, you’re all set. From now on, Overdrive will always reach your inbox first.
