One-truck owner-op's big-bunk 2005 W9

Tom Gay runs this 2005 Kenworth W900 in his "small, one-truck mom and pop operation." The big-bunk KW sits on a 320-inch wheelbase and boasts a 132-inch ARI sleeper. Powered by a Cummins ISX with an Eaton-Fuller 13-speed, the rig pulls a spread-axle reefer, which Gay says "helps with the weight of the truck."

Task force calls for ban on carriers' truck lease-purchase programs

FMCSA's Truck Leasing Task Force, in its required report to Congress, said it found “the costs and harms of lease-purchase programs are so great" they shouldn't be allowed. Otherwise, the report recommended improvements to protect operators.
