The big event is nearly here, thousands of plans have been laid, and March 26-28 in Louisville, Kentucky, MATS will feature perhaps the very biggest collection of vintage and custom rigs, vendors and suppliers, and owner-operators the nation over. Hope to see you there.

Also: Two states partnering on aggressive-driving enforcement at roadside; TEL offering VNL 860s for lease. Stoughton's standard rear impact guard on dry van and reefer trailers is the first to successfully complete a rear impact guard crash test at 40 mph, exceeding the current 35-mph industry benchmark.

Small fleet 'gun-shy' about trucking biz investment amid extreme fuel volatility
The fuel-cost run-up is so bad some owner-ops parked the truck. Others like Jamie Hagen have drivers who depend on him. With a 10-Mack fleet heavily invested in the new Pioneer tractor (one at 9.8 mpg) he's got great fuel weapons. Yet it doesn't make recent spikes easy to stomach by any means.

'Better than a horse and buggy': 1935 International a family heirloom
The 90-year-old farm truck is owned by the original owner's grandson, who pulled it out of a barn 31 years after it was parked to restore it to its original glory, as caught here at the 2025 MATS at the ATHS booth. This year's show is slated for March 26-28 in Louisville, and registration is open.
