Guv: I-85 in Atlanta to reopen by Monday, just six weeks after bridge collapse
Just six weeks after a March 30 bridge collapse on I-85 in Atlanta snarled traffic around the city, Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal announced Wednesday the interstate will reopen by the morning rush hour on Monday, May 15, and possibly sooner.

Winter weather jams up major highways in southeast
A swath of winter weather across the Southeast ranging from north Texas through Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, the Carolinas and into Virginia could begin to take a toll on highway conditions Friday afternoon into Saturday. Two states have also suspended HOS regs.

Georgia truckers challenging Peach State’s use of fuel taxes for non-highway spending
The Georgia Motor Trucking Association, J&M Tank Lines, F&W Transportation and Prolan Logistics filed the suit earlier this month, arguing all revenue obtained from state and locally collected fuel taxes should be spent “for public roads and bridges or road construction and maintenance.”
