(Photo by Jim Allen/365Trucking.com)After taking ownership of his new 2018 Kenworth W900 in October 2017, Randy Manning tore it apart to rebuild it for his coal-hauling business, Randy Manning LLC. He worked with Mac Trailer to have the dump body engineered to fit his truck.
He drove back and forth for weeks to Mac’s facility in Alliance, Ohio, from his home in Cross Junction, Virginia, to get the fit right. Many of those trips were made with him sitting on a five-gallon bucket to drive while the interior was being designed by Two Bee’s Upholstery in Seattle.
Manning decided to change the truck from its original red and black to green and black inside and out after a family friend asked if he would build a green truck to honor dwarfism. A previous truck of Manning’s was yellow, tied to the childhood cancer theme, so cause-themed trucks were not out of the ordinary for him. He takes the truck to a local children’s hospital that treats dwarfism and participates in fundraisers held by the hospital.
The truck features 410 Trux Dual Revolution lights, all wired individually. Manning said there is roughly 14 miles of wiring in the truck.
Manning originally planned for his new W900 to be red and black but decided to change it to green and black to support dwarfism awareness.
The button-tuck interior matches the green and black exterior.
