U.S. diesel price drops 4th straight week

For the fourth consecutive week, the national average retail price of a gallon of diesel fell. In the latest week, the price dropped 1.2 cents to $2.769, according to the Department of Energy. Reporting the prices was delayed until Friday because of the record snowfall that hit Washington, D.C.

All regions reported price declines, ranging from 0.3 cent in New England to 3 cents in California. New England remains the only region with an average price above $3 at $3.014, while the Midwest stays the cheapest area at $2.724.
