Lower fuel prices

For the fifth straight week, the national average retail price of a gallon of diesel dropped. In the latest week, the price decreased 1.3 cents to $2.756, according to the Department of Energy. Reporting the prices was delayed until Friday because of the record snowfall that hit Washington, D.C.

All regions reported lower prices, with the biggest decline of 2.3 cents in New England, which is the most expensive for fuel. New England became the last area to fall under $3 a gallon at $2.991. The Midwest stays the cheapest area at $2.705.
