Diesel price jumps again, up 5.4 cents

Again this week, the national average retail price of a gallon of diesel surged, jumping 5.4 cents to $3.069, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

Diesel prices have climbed 13 cents the past two weeks. The national diesel price is now 84 cents higher than a year ago.

All regions reported average retail prices above $3 a gallon, ranging $3.023 on the Gulf Coast to $3.221 in California. Price jumps of 7.4 cents were reported in California and on the West Coast, where the average price was $3.187.
