I-435 work to slow traffic

Nighttime pavement recycling operations on I-435 in the Kansas City, Mo., area between State Route 24 and State Route 78 will reduce traffic to one lane beginning June 3.

Workers will reduce lanes to grind off old asphalt and recycle the material into a new asphalt surface on:
• Northbound I-435 to one lane from 7:30 p.m. today, June 3, until 5 a.m. Friday morning, June 4;
• Southbound I-435 to one lane from 7:30 p.m. June 4 until 5 a.m. June 5;
• Northbound again from 7:30 p.m. June 5 until 5 a.m. June 6.

The recycling work will continue for several weeks. Once recycling is completed in late June, a finish surface will be placed at night through late July, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

Pavement recycling and resurfacing work will be done at night to minimize traffic disruptions during busier periods. The work will continue nightly through late July, with periodic ramp closures lasting several hours.
