Diesel prices dip slightly

For a fourth straight week and the ninth week in the last 10 weeks, the national average retail price of a gallon of diesel dropped, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. The national price dipped 0.4 cent to $2.899 in the latest week.

The price is 40 cents higher than a year ago.

Most regions reported minor price declines. Exceptions were the Midwest and Gulf Coast, which reported increases of less than a penny. California diesel dipped less than a penny to $3.116, remaining the most expensive in the U.S. The cheapest diesel remained on the Gulf Coast at $2.859 a gallon.
