I-40 work to begin in Arizona

On Aug. 4, the Arizona Department of Transportation will begin a bridge replacement and rehabilitation project on Interstate 40, 50 miles east of Flagstaff.

The eastbound bridge over Babbits Tank Wash will be replaced and the deck of the westbound bridge will be resurfaced. In addition, work will be done to protect the piers of the Canyon Diablo eastbound and westbound bridges.

Crews will work from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 4 at milepost 230, near the Two Guns interchange.

Eastbound I-40 at the Canyon Diablo bridge will be reduced to a single lane and the speed limit reduced to 45 mph. The project is scheduled for completion in early 2011.
