For a second straight week, the average weekly on-highway diesel price increased sharply, according to the U.S. Department of Energy.
The national average price jumped 3.4 cents to $3.231, after rising 3.5 cents the previous week. The current price is the highest since $3.288 in October 2008.
Prices in all individual regions tracked by DOE increased. The East Coast rose 4.2 cents to $3.248, including a 5.8-cent increase for New England and 4.3 cents for the Lower Atlantic. The West Coast increased 4 cents to $3.361. The Gulf Coast increased 3.1 cents to $3.163, and California jumped 5.1 cents to $3.403, the most expensive.
