Gordon Murray Design and Shell research teams have partnered to develop a lubricant to help increase fuel economy, potentially by more than 6 percent across multiple vehicle ranges, according to a report from Shell. The ultra low viscosity 0W-10 motor oil was used on a Gordon Murray city vehicle design, the T.25 city car, and increased 6.5 percent in fuel efficiency. Shell says the blending of low viscosity oil will not only help fuel efficiency, but emissions, too.
