Carriers urged to support driver appreciation week

The Truckload Carriers Association is encouraging carriers to promote their special events and support for truckers during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week Sept. 11-17.

TCA and its industry partner, uDrove LLC, are encouraging U.S. and Canadian carriers to register their events and promotions on a searchable website, www.DriverAppreciation.com. Events can be searched within a specified state or province, city, and/or distance from a city. Event listings provide not only basic contact and location information, but also the type of activity (free meal, discount offer or prizes/gifts), drivers who may attend (all CDL holders, only CDL holders affiliated with the host company, etc.), and if the general public and media are invited to participate.

“Anything we can do to make it easier to generate positive publicity about drivers and trucking is a good thing, so I strongly encourage all companies to get their events listed as soon as possible,” said Gary Salisbury, TCA chairman and the president and chief executive officer of Fikes Truck Line.

Salisbury added that companies are asked to download a NTDAW banner graphic to display on their own websites, linking drivers to the clearinghouse. For complete details and to register events, visit www.DriverAppreciation.com.
