Truck stop electrification is expanding at several locations..
On July 21, EnviroDock completed electrification on 30 parking spaces at TR Auto Truck Plaza, off of Interstate 40 in Dandridge, Tenn. The Virginia-based company furnished 20 E-Dock units providing heating, cooling and power, while 10 PowrDock shorepower pedestals provide electricity only for truckers who don’t need HVAC.
An American Resource and Recovery Act stimulus grant funded the project.
Less than 100 miles away, more than 50 electrification units were completed at Eco Travel Plaza in Crossville, Tenn., in late June. EnviroDock and Shorepower Technologies installed units, financed in part through a $580,000 American Recovery & Reinvestment Act grant.
A New York State Energy Research and Development Authority grant has allowed EnviroDock to complete its installation of five E-Dock Stationary units at Canaan Truck Stop, an Ambest Truck Stop located in Canaan, off I-90. Although already operational, its official grand opening and Driver Appreciation Day is scheduled for Sept. 23.
This summer, Florida Turnpike officials opened electrification units at Okahumpka and Canoe Creek, while IdleAir recently has said it has started services at new locations in Shepherd, Texas, and Claysville, Pa.
Shorepower, partnering with Cascade Sierra Solutions, recently completed electrification at the Baker Truck Corral in Baker City, Ore. It is the first of 50 planned TSE projects nationally funded through a federal program.
