I-29 in Iowa reopens

Closed by Missouri River flooding since June 15, Interstate 29 has reopened from Rock Port, Mo., at exit 110 to U.S. 34 exit 32 near Pacific Junction, Iowa, the states’ departments of transportation said.

Missouri closed 15 miles of the interstate when flood waters forced Iowa to close approximately 35 miles of I-29 near the border.

The Iowa Department of Transportation reports that construction and repair work is ongoing.

Exit 1, Iowa 333 to Hamburg, and exit 10, Iowa 2 to Nebraska City, remain closed, IowaDOT said. Both highways sustained substantial flood damage and must be repaired.

Temporary lane crossovers are in place at mileposts 0.8 northbound and 3.2 southbound, near Hamburg, Iowa. Two-way traffic exists between the crossovers with vehicles diverted into the southbound lanes, IowaDOT said.
