The U.S. average diesel price inched higher 0.5-cent to $4.147 in the latest week, according to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration.
Prices have increased every week but one since Jan. 9 and are the highest point since Aug. 25, 2008, when diesel was $4.158. A year ago the average diesel price was 21.5 cents lower. The record diesel price was $4.771 in July 2008.
Prices in all regions increased again except for California, which dipped 0.5-cent to $4.476, still the nation’s highest average. Rocky Mountain region gained 1.7 cents to $4.136, while Washington and Oregon increased 1.1 cents to $4.383.
