C.W. McCall Is Back

The duo that created music legend C.W. McCall 25 years ago as an advertising gimmick has teamed up for the first time in two decades on a new album.

Chip Davis, the brain trust behind Mannheim Steamroller, and Bill Fries, aka C.W. McCall, the voice behind “Convoy” and other trucking hits, have released a new patriotic album called American Spirit. The album, which hit retailers May 20, features 13 songs, including the “Star-Spangled Banner,” “Battle Hymn of the Republic” and “America the Beautiful.” It also includes a digitally recorded new version of “Convoy” as well as another trucker favorite, “Wolf Creek Pass.”

Fries narrates the beginning of the album’s title song. The Chicago Symphony Chorus and Chicago Symphony Orchestra also perform on the album.

The album was produced by Davis and is being released by the American Gramaphone label out of Omaha, Neb. More information is available at www.amgram.com.
