Hybrid Electric Tractor
The Peterbilt Model 335 hybrid electric tractor is ideally suited for applications such as beverage and regional-haul deliveries that require a trailer. The Model 335 hybrid electric tractor utilizes Eaton’s Hybrid Electric Power System with an electric motor that assists the PACCAR PX-6 engine with supplemental torque for up to 25-percent fuel-economy gains in local-haul applications, the company says. The system stores energy during stopping through a process called regenerative braking, then reuses it for acceleration. Fuel use, emissions and noise are greatly reduced.
Emergency Warning Strobe Lamp
Truck-Lite’s gas discharge emergency warning strobe lamp uses an inexpensive, cylindrical flash tube. All optics are internal, leaving a smooth, more aerodynamic surface that’s easy to clean and maintain, the company says, and external parts are designed for durability, with circuitry encapsulated.
Threaded domes screw on and off for rapid flash-tube replacement.
Unlike older helical flash tubes, the new cylindrical design works with Truck-Lite’s advanced optics to concentrate light within the critical zone (five degrees above and below horizontal) for the greatest effect. The lamp is designed to operate from 10V to 30V, making it suitable for operation with both 12-volt and 24-volt setups. All models have a year warranty on the light.
Tire-Pressure Monitoring System
TireStat from Mobile Awareness, a tire-pressure monitoring system, provides increased fuel economy, enhanced safety, maximized tire casing life and extended tire wear, the company says. The lightweight TireStat sensors are mounted externally on the valve stem, allowing air input without sensor removal. This virtually eliminates limitations previously found to prevent the use of TPMS on fleet vehicles, including costly tire maintenance, time-consuming installations, lost cap-mounted sensors and difficulty in roadside service. TireStat is preprogrammed by wheel position for effortless installation, yet can be easily altered by the user. The system not only detects under-inflated, over-inflated and rapidly leaking tires, it also monitors tire temperature.
Satellite TV Antenna
King Controls’ VuQube mobile satellite TV antennas are the first-such automatic antennas designed specifically for long-haul truckers, the company says, meeting the unique mounting requirements and physical demands of heavy-duty trucks. VuQube antennas are just 16 inches wide and 17.5 inches high and weigh less than 15 pounds. Available in three different models including manual, automatic and in-motion, the antennas have a suggested retail price of $699, $1,299 and $1,599 respectively and are available in the U.S. and Canada through King Controls’ dealer network.
Modular Lighting System
Grote Industries has developed a totally modular power-delivery and lighting system, complete from nose box to taillight. The Ultra-Blue-Seal harness system offers connection-sealing characteristics, configuration flexibility and expansion capacity. Paired with Grote’s new Ultra-Nose-Box receptacle and portfolio of lighting products, it provides an electrical and lighting platform for trailers.
The Ultra-Nose-Box solves the problem of cracked, corroded and crowded electrical junction boxes by employing double the standard number of pin connections, a push-on plug function, a durable glass-filled nylon housing, insert-molded pins that seal out moisture and corrosive materials and easily replaceable parts.
Cold-Weather Fuel Treatments
By using Penray’s line of cold-weather products, you can help eliminate downtime and also improve fuel efficiency, the company says. The line of winter products includes: Winter Pow-R Plus for BioDiesel Fuel Treatment, Winter Pow-R Plus Diesel Fuel Treatment, Winter Thaw Emergency Diesel Fuel Treatment, Winter Blend Bulk Fuel Treatments and Fuel Prep Year Round Fuel Treatment.
