House Reps. John J Duncan (R-Tenn.) and Peter Defazio (D-Ore.) have asked the Department of Transportation Office of Inspector General for an audit on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Compliance, Safety, Accountability program after witnesses at recent hearings said that FMCSA’s lack of quality data and inappropriate weighting of violations and other scoring problems produce “erroneously labeled” scores of carriers.
Duncan and Defazio have asked that the audit be submitted by Aug. 1, 2013. For the full report on the looming audit, see Overdrive sister site CCJ‘s article.
