Rates tumble in December after November spike

Coming on the heels of a big November — more than likely driven by holiday retail shopping – rates for all three segments dropped in December, with dry van leading the way with a 15-cent fall to $1.81, according to Internet Truckstop. Rates for reefer and dry van are still considerably higher than December of 2011, while flatbed was flat year-over-year.

Reefer rates did drop 12 cents from November to December, and flatbed dropped a cent.

Rates were:

Dry van: $1.81

Reefer: $2.08

Flatbed: $1.96
