Users of the E-ZPass electronic toll collection system in New York, Jersey, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Virginia, Ohio, Vermont and other states are being urged not to click on links in an email circulating that claims to be an attempt to collect unpaid tolls. An example of the phishing attempt to gain access to user information, such as bank accounts or credit cards, is shown below from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
The E-ZPass Service Center, the Port Authority reports, does not send out email invoices for payment. Normally, customers who owe are sent invoices the post.
