Twas the night before Christmas
And down the long road
Not a creature was stirring
Unless under a load
The stockings were waiting
With his family for hours
For their trucker to return
From the emergency re-power
Ma was in the kitchen,
He had taken off his cap
When the call came through from dispatch
Ma said, “Don’t answer that.”
But a truck had broken down
With a load of bikes and toys
People had ordered
For good girls and boys
“I gotta go, Ma
I’ll be back in a flash
The kids need their toys
And the bonus is cash.”
He sprang into the cab
Gave his old dog a whistle,
And broke the silence of the night
With a Detroit Diesel
Ma heard him exclaim
As he drove out of sight
“I’ll be home for dinner –
Tomorrow night!”
Merry Christmas from the Parker Family. Thanks for doing the job you do.
