The national average price for a gallon of on-highway diesel increased 4.3 cents in the week ending May 4, according to the Department of Energy’s weekly report.
This is the third consecutive week the price of diesel has risen nationwide.
The U.S.’ average price is now $2.854, which is $1.11 lower than the same week last year.
Prices increased in all regions this week. New England saw the least significant increase, with prices only going up nine-tenths of a cent. The West Coast less California region saw the most significant increase of 10.6 cents.
California has the country’s most expensive diesel at $3.227 per gallon, followed by the Central Atlantic region at $3.133.
The country’s cheapest diesel is in the Midwest region at $2.715 per gallon, followed by the Gulf Coast region at $2.751 per gallon.
