doctor medicalThe Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has announced a 120-day grace period for medical examiners to transition to the new medical exam forms for DOT physicals.

Beginning Dec. 22, medical examiners are required to use a new Medical Examination Report Form and Medical Examiner’s Certificate when giving DOT physicals. FMCSA is now giving examiners until April 20 to fully transition to the new forms “to ensure that medical examiners have sufficient time to become familiar with the new forms and to program electronic medical records systems.”

The new forms were not made available to medical examiners until Dec. 14 due to technical difficulties, FMCSA said, and the agency received public requests to delay the implementation.
