Bits and pieces

I have a hypothetical question to throw out.

Let’s say your kid brings you a permission slip for a field trip, but you notice the deadline for having the signed permission slip turned in has passed, and the slip clearly says they won’t be accepted after that date.

What do you do?

Do you go to the teacher, school and local news to scream and yell about your kid not being able to participate? Do you threaten to take the kid out of school if they don’t let your kid attend?

Or do you tell the kid, “Sorry kid. You didn’t hold up your end of the bargain here, the slip was supposed to be turned in three weeks ago, and as much as I hate for you to miss the trip, I can’t help you out.”

I’m 100% serious when I say I’m interested in your answers. And since I’m asking for answers, I’m going to be the math teacher everyone hated and ask you to show your work. Tell me why.

So, from there we’ll swing right on around to wishing Troy Huddleston a Happy Birthday, because apparently, I’m not doing segues today. I don’t have it in me to thread the needle with a kid’s permission slip and Troy Huddleston’s birthday, so we’ll just sew this one up with a picture of Troy’s working Freightliner, and wish the only person with a Freightliner I could love as much as ours a great day.

Troy Huddlestons Freightliner 2017 05 31 12 20Today the title is Bits and pieces because that’s how I feel right now. We’re helping plan a truck show that happens in eight days, and let me just go right ahead and issue my sincere awe for anyone and everyone who do truck show planning/events. Let’s just say if there was money left over in the budget, I’d rent myself a four-wheeler to ride off into the woods and never be seen or heard from again.

Haha! I joke. I’d totally rent myself a camper. It’s the bathroom thing, you know.

Speaking of bathrooms (and there’s the segue I was devoid of before [You’re right, believe it or not. I checked. –ed.]), we’ll have plenty of clean ones at the 2nd Annual Take Pride Truck Show in Brookville, Ohio, June 9th and 10th at Mid West Trucks and Equipment. We want to thank Ed Evans of Evans Cattle Company and DJ Hauling for sponsoring the stage where Paul Marhoefer, Bill Weaver, and Tony Justice will be performing. In the immortal words of Bill Weaver, “It’s gonna be a big time.”

You can find information at the website. Takepridetruckshow.com Meanwhile, y’all have homework, and I’ve got a million bazillion things to do – before we start polishing the truck. Get on it!
