U.S. Xpress, the nation’s sixth largest carrier, announced Thursday a new lease-purchase program for drivers, offering 2015 Freightliner Cascadias for weekly lease payments of $493 and higher, depending on the truck’s mileage.
The company says drivers can take advantage of the program with no credit check, no money down and no balloon payments. The carrier also referred to the program as a “walkaway” lease-purchase program, with no penalties for early termination of the lease.
Truckers in the program can earn between $1 and $2 a mile, plus a fuel surcharge, U.S. Xpress says.
The lease-purchase trucks will come with a 500,000-mile drivetrain warranty, discounts on tires and fuel, Easy Pass and more. The Cacadisas will come with an automatic transmission, dual air-ride seats and a 72-inch double bunk condo sleeper.
