Truckers traveling through Rhode Island this weekend should expect heavy traffic and long delays on I-195 West in Providence as part of a bridge repair project.

Rhode Island DOT says work will begin Friday night, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m. The number of lanes on the ramp from I-195 West to I-95 South will be reduced from two lanes to one. The lane will remain closed through the weekend and will reopen Monday morning, Oct. 23, at 5 a.m.

RIDOT adds the project “will resolve a longstanding dip that has annoyed motorists for several years.”
