Truckers in Michigan and Arizona will soon see traffic impacts from construction projects on I-94 and I-10, respectively.

The Michigan Department of Transportation plans to begin in February a pavement repair project on I-94 near Jackson between Michigan Highway 60 and Sargent Road, along with rebuilding the Cooper Street/I-94 interchange and replacing the bridge over the Grand River.

In order to prepare for this work, approximately 22 acres of trees will have to be cleared out along I-94. To accommodate the tree-clearing process, shoulders will be closed Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Intermittent single-lane closures on I-94 will also take place, mostly overnight on Monday through Thursday between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.

The tree-clearing work is expected to be finished by late May, and the construction projects on I-94 are expected to begin in the summer and continue through fall 2019.

Crews with the Arizona Department of Transportation are planning permanent I-10 on- and off-ramp closures and reconfigurations over the next several months as part of a project to create an interchange connecting the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway.

The first ramp closure is scheduled for the I-10 westbound off-ramp at 51st Avenue, which will be closed from Saturday, Jan. 27 through Saturday, March 3. Westbound I-10 will be closed between 43rd and 51st avenues between 10 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26 and 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 29.
