The South Dakota Department of Revenue issued a warning Wednesday about what it calls a “fictitious trucking dealership” known as South Dakota Trucks.

The agency says the dealership’s website says it is located in Rapid City, but an investigation by the agency found that there isn’t a business by that name at the address listed.

Additionally, the South Dakota Trucks website lists an inventory of trucks, trailers and more, and the Department of Revenue’s motor vehicle division found that the inventory is already titled in other states through various dealers.

The agency asks consumers with questions about the validity of a vehicle found on the website to call the department’s motor vehicle division at 605-773-3541. The department also encourages any victims of the scam to contact the consumer protection division in their respective state.
