Daimler Trucks North America announced recently it is recalling more than 600 Freightliner and Western Star tractors over a steering wheel issue, according to documents from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The recall affects approximately 622 model year 2019 Freightliner Cascadia and 2019 Western Star 5700 trucks manufactured between July 9 and Aug. 2, 2018. The steering wheels on these trucks may loosen over time and detach from the steering column.

DTNA will begin notifying owners on Dec. 3, and dealers will correct the steering wheel installation for free. Owners can contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712 with recall number FL796. NHTSA’s recall number is 18V-699.
