Truckers traveling west through Phoenix this weekend on I-10 should plan to use an alternate route to get around a construction closure.
Westbound I-10 will be closed between 43rd and 67th avenues from 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, through 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5. The on-ramps at 27th and 35th avenues will also be closed, in addition to the northbound I-17 ramp connecting to westbound I-10.
The Arizona Department of Transportation says drivers should consider using the Loop 101 west of I-17 as an alternate route.
ADOT will also close the eastbound lanes of I-10 between 67th and 51st avenues in two weeks from 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, through 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18.
The closures will allow the I-10 travel lanes to be shifted to allow for the next phase of construction for the South Mountain Freeway, which will provide an alternative to I-10 through downtown Phoenix.
