As part of a multi-year rebuild of the interchange between Interstate 65 and Interstate 59/20 in Birmingham, Alabama, construction crews recently used explosives to bring down a mile-stretch of the I-59/20 bridge that runs through downtown Birmingham. The local al.com shot this video of the scene. While the bridge is being rebuilt and expanded, I-59/20 will be closed in both directions the one-mile stretch. Construction is expected to last 14 months.
