Truck stops, fleets, more show appreciation for truckers

National Truck Driver Appreciation Week begins Sunday, Sept. 8, and a number of truck stops, trucking organizations, fleets and others are showing their appreciation for drivers by offering deals and recognizing truckers for their hard work.

NTDAW is a week dedicated to celebrating truck drivers in the U.S. spearheaded by the American Trucking Associations, which will be held Sunday, Sept. 8 through Saturday, Sept. 14. ATA says the week is coordinated each year to show the country’s 3.5 million truck drivers that carriers, shippers and the rest of the industry appreciate the job they do.

Pilot Flying J and Love’s Travel Stops already announced their NTDAW promotions will last throughout the month of September.

Some other promotions and efforts taking place during the week include:

I Luv My Trucker 2016 09 13 13 00iLuvMyTrucker: Overdrive sister site Truckers News opened nominations for its iLuvMyTrucker contest, which gives the opportunity to recognize truck drivers. The best of the submissions will be published on the Truckers News site throughout the week. Truckers in the five best entries will receive a $25 Subway gift card for the recognition.


TA-Petro: Throughout September, TA-Petro will be giving special offers to UltraOne members by email. A number of TA-Petro locations will be hosting events and activities for drivers throughout the month as well. A full list of locations and their planned events can be found here.

Washington Trucking Associations: WTA will be giving drivers free breakfast and lunch at different locations throughout the week next week. Breakfast will be served from 6-9 a.m., and lunch will be served from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Drivers can grab food at the following locations:

  • Monday, Sept. 9, at Scatter Creek Rest Area
  • Tuesday, Sept. 10, at Bow Hill Weigh Station
  • Wednesday, Sept. 11, at Spokane Freightliner NW
  • Thursday, Sept. 12, at Grandview Weigh Station

Dart: Dart is offering its drivers breakfast and/or lunch at its Eagan, Pontoon Beach, Lancaster, South Atlanta, Sellerburg and Vandalia terminals during NTDAW. There will also be giveaways and prizes.
