Mack Trucks and Paccar each recently announced recalls of a small number of trucks for suspension and brakes issues, respectively, according to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration documents.
Mack is recalling approximately eight model year 2015 Pinnacle CXU tractors Meritor FF967 Non-Drive Front Steer Axles. Mack says the axles missed the heat treating operation during manufacturing, reducing their strength and possibly causing the axle beams to fracture. If an axle beam fractured, it could cause loss of vehicle control.
Mack will notify owners of affected trucks, and dealers will inspect and replace the axles as necessary. Owners can contact Mack customer service at 1-800-866-1177 with recall number SC0419. NHTSA’s recall number is 19V-616.
Paccar’s recall affects approximately 139 model year 2020 Kenworth T270 and T370 medium-duty trucks. The company says the brake treadle valves may have loose compression fittings, which can cause the air supply hose to separate from the valve. A separated hose could cause reduced braking ability.
Paccar will notify affected owners, and dealers will inspect the brake treadle valve hose connections for loose fittings and tighten if necessary. Owners can contact Paccar customer service at 1-425-828-5888 with recall number 19KWD. NHTSA’s recall number is 19V-606.
