Kenan Advantage Group acquires 45-truck tanker fleet

The Kenan Advantage Group has acquired 45-truck Abbeville, Louisiana-based tanker fleet TransVac.

Founded just two years ago, TransVac specializes in bulk chemicals, water treatment products and plastic additives and enhances KAG’s growing chemical storage capabilities and expands its service offering to existing chemical customers with additional capacity, especially in the Louisiana and Arkansas markets, the company said.

Kenan Advantage Group delivers fuels, chemicals, and products throughout North America.

This is the third acquisition this year for the North Canton, Ohio-based company, having picked up in February Northern Dry Bulk, a Clare, Michigan-based company that specializes primarily in the transportation and storage of plastic resins for automotive, packaging, electronic and other products in the U.S. and Canada. KAG acquired Lake Wales-based Florida Food Tankers in January.

Nikola secures Sourcewell government contract

Electric truck manufacturer Nikola Corporation, via its HYLA brand, announced it has secured a Sourcewell cooperative contract, which aims to simplify the purchasing process for the OEM's battery- and hydrogen-fuel-cell-electric Class 8s for public agencies.

Sourcewell is a self-funded government organization founded in 1978 whose aim is to facilitate a cooperative purchasing program that "harnesses the collective purchasing power of more than 50,000 participating agencies."

Sourcewell streamlines the purchasing process for these agencies with pre-negotiated, competitive contracts, allowing for "government, educational, and non-profit organizations to secure cost-effective and efficient purchasing solutions," the company said. In short, customers will save time and money towards the purchase of Nikola's truck lineup.

This new partnership grants any public agency more direct access to the manufacturer's Class 8 trucks without having to navigate the sometimes complicated purchasing process thanks to "ready-to-use, Sourcewell-vetted contracts," Nikola said.
