A total “336 trucks participated in the 28-mile convoy” of the Philadelphia and Susquehanna Valley chapters, Albert wrote. “I was fortunate again this year to take a ‘Wish Child’ along in the Cascadia.”
Seven-year-old Nicholas suffered from a heart defect — a pronounced narrowing of the aorta — from birth that required his lungs to work harder than is normal to get oxygen into his blood. It’s children like him the foundation supports. At Penn State Children’s Hospital at two months old, Albert wrote, “he received the surgery he needed to save his life. Today, doctors say he should live a full and happy life.”
