In addition to the Lost Pines Log Pull competition Bastrop nonprofit Logs to Lumber is hosting this coming weekend to add competitive spirit to their efforts harvesting viable timber from an area devastated by wildfires last year and help more than 1,700 homeowners rebuild, Jamaica Morz, working with the organization, could also use a little timber/lumber-hauling help.
“We are currently working with a grassroots organization, Logs to Lumber, that has made an arrangement with a sawmill in Huntsville (Texas),” Morz notes, “that will take our timber in exchange for milled lumber to rebuild fire-destroyed homes… So far, small runs to the mill have been accomplished using farm trucks and hay trailers. At present we are in need and seek assistance in the 130-mile transport of this timber from Bastrop to Huntsville, the lumber brought back to Bastrop.”
Got suggestions, help, logging contacts in the region?Be in touch with them via their website, or contact Morz direct by phone: (512) 799-9506.
And how about the poster art for this weekend’s event! (Competitor with the most points comes away with $1,200 cash.)
