Regular readers will be familiar with the Trucking Solutions Group of operators, among them currently and past such Channel 19ers as 2007 Overdrive Trucker of the Year Henry Albert, Linda and Bob Caffee, Jeff Clark, Rick Ash, current OOIDA regulatory affairs director Scott Grenerth and others. The group announced this week that it’s planning on bringing to its presence at the Great American Trucking Show this year, in addition to its annual Health Awareness Walk, a variety of free health screenings to all driver-attendees and others at the show. Part of the effort will be a mobile mammogram unit that will be a part of the Landstar Fit for the Road Health and Wellness Pavilion in planning there.
A fund-raising campaign is under way to help cover the cost of mammograms for CDL holders attending GATS this year who do not have insurance or can not otherwise afford the $300 screening. As in past years, the show will be held at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center (formerly Dallas Convention Center), and it’s happening this year on August 27-29.

All funds raised will be applied to the cost of the mammograms, the TSG says. The group is attempting to raise $30,000 all told. Any funds collected above that goal will be donated to the St. Christopher Truckers Development and Relief Fund, or “the truckers fund,” well-known for its work to help truckers whose medical problems have led to financial hardship.
