The green flag drops on a rainy podium race at New Jersey Motorsports Park.The ChampTruck World Series saw a first-time winner last weekend at New Jersey Motorsports Park in Tommy Boileau.
Boileau, driver of the No. 16 Volvo for Truck Race Team USA, won the podium race under a full-course yellow/checkered flag. The yellow flag came due to oil on the track, which leaked from a racer’s cracked oil pan.
During the heat races leading up to the podium race Saturday, May 21, Mack technician Mike Morgan claimed the first race, and Ricky “Rude” Proffitt handled the rainy conditions and won the next three heats.
Behind Boileau in the podium race were Morgan finishing second, Robbie Decker in third, Karoly Fazekas in fourth, Justin Ball in fifth, Chris Kikelham in sixth, Allen Boles in seventh and Proffitt in eighth.
The New Jersey race also saw the biggest field for a ChampTruck race so far this season with eight racers. The first two races of the season saw six racers each.
The next ChampTruck World Series race will be held at Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison, Ill., on June 11.
