In the video up top, find a tour through Von Ormy, Texas-based Jarco Transport small fleet owner Joe Regalado’s custom 2000 Peterbilt 379 and 2018 Armor Lite end dump, the trailer newly customized to match the tractor. Regular readers will recall Regalado from the Pride & Polish national championship last year, when he came away with a big win for his working combo. That was a different trailer, however, with a steel frame — this one’s all-aluminum, spec’d to maximize payload in the operation his small fleet acquired from nearby San Antonio-area dump hauler Madden Materials, the former sand-hauling contractor whose next generation is soon to be headed out on his own. He bagged a 2nd in his working combo class and nods for paint (1st) and engine (3nd). Regalado notes he’s utilizing his unit here for a load or two a day within Texas hauling sand to golf courses, in large part, which allows him to put his best custom tire forward and, better yet, keep the truck out of the excavation sites that are typical for the Jarco side of his aggregate/haul-off business.

With the air out of the front bags in the steer-axle suspension on this Peterbilt, Regalado’s 2000 379 has something of a big-diesel-hotrod look to it, the entirety slammed forward.
Regalado came away with the 2016 working combo Pride & Polish national championship with a different, steel end dump trailer. This year, he showed the unit with a new 2018 Armor Lite end dump built to match the tractor.
The electric motors powering the tarping system are mounted inside the dump’s frame, enhancing the unit’s clean, streamlined look.
Not bad for a guy who works this unit hauling sand, of all things, to golf courses around Texas, mostly. The painted, polished aluminum floor takes a beating with the sand grains — Regalado and son and co. compounded and buffed it to this finish prior to the GATS show this year.
